On the Isles soothing voices can be heard, softening the harsh edges of the wailing wind's song.
A mistress is found, glistening in the yellowing light of dusk.
With hair, verdant green and long.
A trap for worn, longing souls.
Don't fall for their guise, for under those locks hides a pair of hideous blank fish eyes.

My love and desire for painting mermaids is too great, I have to paint them sometimes!
I challenged myself with this piece, trying to paint something ugly (as Orjan challenged me to), yet beautiful at the same time (as that's what I do).
Decided to push myself a bit with this piece, composition, color and lighting wise. Very happy with the mood!
The ugly mermaid is their true form. They use the moment of locks of hair falling in front of their faces to cast the illusion of being a beautiful damsel in distress, about to drown in the wild wild sea.
